Yard Sale Season

Yard Sale Season is in full swing!  After a day in the sun, haggling over dishes, clothes and treasures, we often see tired donors dropping off their yard sale left overs at our donation doors.  As a thrift shop, we really appreciate quality items which have been overlooked at your yard sale.  However, we are not able to accept everything.

If a dish is cracked or chipped, we won't be able to sell it either and unlike yourself, we have to pay to have our dumpsters emptied.   So, we ask that you drop off items in good working order, things that have all of their parts and items which do not have price stickers or masking tape with prices attached.  Our volunteers give their time to help keep the shop running smoothly and fully stocked... spending an hour taking tape off of yard sale leftovers is not making good use of their time.

We are not ungrateful, but we do want donors to be educated and help us make good use of our resources.  People who donate to Thrift on Kent have good intentions and most offer us items which we can easily turn around and sell in the shop.  We are a charitable shop with all of our profits going to fund Mennonite Central Committee programs and we are grateful to both our donors and our shoppers.

We thank you for all of the prep work you do before you donate your items.  Happy Yard Sale-ing!
